Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA)

Potential Tree-Planting Partnership (2013)

Mr. Dan Cooper, Forestry Program Manager with Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, has provided the Township with details on tree planting opportunities.  RVCA is looking to connect gaps in the Algonquin to Adirondack area with green corridors.  This would involve planting approximately 560,000 in Elizabethtown-Kitley.  Landowners would be approached to participate in the program, including a 15 year agreement.  RVCA monitors the trees for ten years and maintains the trees until they are "free to grow".  Mr. Cooper advised RVCA is not asking for financial support, but for the Township to assist in promoting the program.  The Township has agreed to promote the program through the E-K Newsletter, the Spotlight, on the website and posters to be on display at local stores.  Interested landowners are to contact Mr. Cooper at dan.cooper@rvca.ca, or 1-800-267-3504 x 1124 or 1-613-692-3571 x 1124.
