North End Garbage Pick-Up

Clipart of garbage canFor residents in the northern portion of the Township (former Kitley Township) garbage tags are available for purchase at the locations noted below:

  • Township Office, 6544 New Dublin Rd.
  • Township Office, 424 County Rd 29
  • Dixie & Egan, 8050 County Rd 29
  • Kitley Grocery, Toledo
  • Jerry's Service Centre, Jasper
  • Toledo Post Office, Toledo

The tags are sold 10 stickers per sheet, at a cost of $10.00 per sheet. A $88.00 (2015) per year waste collection levy will be applied to the tax account of houses receiving garbage pick-up. This levy represents the actual cost for waste and recycling pick-up (collection). The cost for tipping (disposal) is recovered through the sale of tags.

Waste pick-up will is weekly, and blue box pick-up is on a weekly alternating schedule - one week it is fibers (cardboard and paper) and the next week it is mixed (cans, glass and plastic).

Residents on the east side of County Rd 29 have pick-up on Mondays, while residents on the west side of County Rd 29 have pick-up on Fridays. A recycling depot operates at 424 County Rd 29, 9:00 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are stickers available?

Stickers are available at the following locations:

  • Township Office, 6544 New Dublin Rd
  • Township Office, 424 County Rd 29
  • Dixie & Egan, 8050 County Rd 29
  • Kitley Grocery, Toledo
  • Jerry's Service Centre, Jasper
  • Toledo Post Office, Toledo

How much do stickers cost?

The cost of disposal stickers is $10.00 per sheet (10 stickers per sheet).

What does the Surcharge fee cover?

The surcharge fee, added to your tax bill each year, covers the cost of the disposal service (ie. the trucks and the labour).

Why do I have to purchase disposal stickers?

The cost of the disposal stickers is no longer covered in the fee that is applied to your tax bill. By eliminating that portion of the fee, the pick-up system has become more equitable - residents are able to purchase as many or as few stickers as they will use. This reduces the number of households who will be left with a surplus of stickers at the end of the year.

The cost of disposal stickers for roadside pick-up is now in line with the cost of disposal tags for the Waste Site on County Road 7. Roadside pick-up stickers are $10.00 for ten stickers, and the Waste Site tag (to take waste to the dump yourself) is $10.00 for ten bags. In both instances the cost equals $1.00 per bag - roadside pick-up residences simply pay an additional fee per year to have their waste picked-up at their homes.

When is pick-up?

Garbage and blue box pick up for residents East of County Rd 29 takes place on Monday as per the calendar below. Residents West of County Rd 29 have their garbage up on Friday. Blue box pick-up is weekly on an alternating schedule - one week it is fibers (cardboard and paper) and the next week it is mixed (plastic, cans and glass).
